On March 27, 2020 President Trump signed into law the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Among many other components, this act provided much needed funding to students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as making available funds to institutions of postsecondary education.

However, due to the evolving, and at times seemingly contradicting, guidance being provided from the Department of Education (ED) on the proper use of the much-appreciated Campus-focused funding; Erie Community College (SUNY Erie) has not deposited these funds in operational accounts at this time, despite the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

SUNY Erie will continue to engage with ED, State Officials, and SUNY itself to ensure a full understanding of the allowable uses of these funds and will update this location once this clarity is reached.

It is the hope of SUNY Erie to utilize these funds in a method that will fully support our students educational needs, support our hard-working faculty and staff, and contribute to the continued, sustainable, and safe operations of SUNY Erie Community College.
