Online Orientation

The Online Orientation is a great first step in preparing for the semester. It provides important information about college resources, student services, technology, and other tools that will help you get started with confidence.

To complete the Online Orientation, please visit: https://orientation.ecc.edu and use your SUNY Erie email and password.

New Student Welcome

Save the date for New Student Welcome this summer! These events are designed to help you feel prepared, informed, and connected before classes begin. During the event, you will have the opportunity to learn about important college resources, meet staff, ask questions, and better understand the steps you need to take for a successful start. Students will also receive campus-specific information, so they know what to expect and where to go. Our goal is to help you feel welcomed, supported, and ready to begin your journey at SUNY Erie.

Save the date for New Student Welcome events:

  • North Campus – Thursday, August 27, 2026

Other Things You Need to Do To Start at SUNY Erie

Starting your journey at SUNY Erie is an exciting step, and a little preparation can make all the difference in ensuring a smooth and successful first semester. To help you get off to the right start, we’ve outlined a few key steps you should complete before classes begin. Taking care of these items ahead of time will position you for a stress-free start to the semester.

Students with questions about any of these topics can use Conex ED to meet virtually with many of our on-campus departments, including financial aid, admissions, and student accounts.

Set up your MyECC account

The MyECC portal provides access to student academic and financial information. You have access to the MyECC portal within 48 hours of being admitted.
Your portal gives access to:

  • Your college email
  • Register for courses (Workday)
  • Search library databases
  • Attend your distance learning classes 

Log on to the portal with your SUNY Erie username and password at https://myusername.ecc.edu/

Submit Immunization & Health Forms
Before classes start, you should:
  • Submit your Immunization Records and complete a Confidential Student Health Form to avoid being dropped from classes
  • All new students who are registered for 6 or more credit hours on campus are required to submit proof of immunization OR immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella
  • Meningitis Response Form is also required
  • For more information on how to submit these records before the first day of class please visit https://www.ecc.edu/student-support/health-services.html
  • Submit your immunization records electronically here: https://forms.office.com/r/U5VBKRn6Yj. They must be sent from your ECC account.
Complete Your Financial Aid Forms (FAFSA & TAP)

The Office of Financial Aid at SUNY Erie Community College helps students through the financial aid process.  Any student accepted into a degree or certificate program and taking one or more classes may apply for financial aid.

Complete the Free Application for Student Aid FAFSA online at https://studentaid.gov
Be sure to include SUNY Erie's school code: 010684.

Complete TAP Application (NYS Residents only) at https://www.tap.hesc.ny.gov/totw/.
Be sure to include SUNY Erie's school code: 2065

Register for Classes
All students accepted into a degree program must receive academic advisement before registering for courses. Your primary advisor is a faculty member from within your academic department. To find your Academic Progress and Advisor information, go to MyECC, log in, and go to Workday. From there, select Academics. 

Meet with your faculty advisor to update your Academic Plan and collaborate on a schedule of classes for the upcoming semester.

Once you have updated your Academic Plan in consultation with an advisor, you may register for class sections using this plan. A video tutorial on how to register for classes can be found here! You can also contact the Office of Registration for assistance: (716) 851-1467 or registrar@ecc.edu
