SUNY Chancellor's Award Winners

Four SUNY Erie students received the 2023 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence (CASE) – the highest honor bestowed upon a student by SUNY – at an awards ceremony held Monday at the Albany Capital Center in downtown Albany. The award acknowledges students for outstanding achievements that have demonstrated the integration of SUNY excellence within many aspects of their lives in areas such as academics, leadership, campus involvement, community service or the arts.

TheArthur A. Duncan II, ’06, was born 2,500 miles away. Yet, Buffalo would become his home – for better and for worse – as it shaped, challenged, discouraged and ultimately embraced him. His journey from honors student to convicted felon to successful attorney is inspiring on many levels. Pathways student

Last fall, leaders from Journey’s End Refugee Services and SUNY Erie’s Pathways program discussed the unmet need for English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes for the Lackawanna residents Journey’s End serves. By January, 36 EAL leaners had enrolled in two SUNY Erie course sections taught by an instructor from Journey’s End. One section is offered remotely, and one is onsite at Our Lady of Victory (OLV) Human Services on Ridge Road.
