Welcome Our New VP of College Safety & Security, John Reinholz!

John Reinholz

John Reinholz's background in the Criminal Justice field has been shaped through his 20-year career with the New York State Police, which began in 1987.  He served the State Police as a Trooper, Sergeant, Station Commander, Zone Sergeant, and Criminal Investigator.  John has been stationed in several areas throughout New York State; including Binghamton, Corning, Long Island, Rochester, Fredonia, Albany, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, and the Catskill Region. These assignments have provided him with the opportunity to understand the dynamics of the criminal justice system in rural, suburban, and urban settings.  John retired from the State Police in May of 2007.

Upon retiring from the NYSP, John began a teaching career in higher education with colleges that include Niagara County Community College, Bryant & Stratton College, Buffalo State College, and Hilbert College where he taught in the Criminal Justice, Sociology, and Crime Scene Investigation departments. John also instructed Police Supervision and Ethical Awareness courses at the Erie County Central Police Services Law Enforcement Academy and the Security Guard Certification course for DCJS.

John believes that his college-level teaching experience and curriculum design, his experiences with the New York State Police, and the graduate-level education he received at Albany University have provided the necessary skills for the position as the Associate VP of College Safety.
