Estimator (Microcredential)


Program Description


The Estimator microcredential will provide individuals with the knowledge to enter the construction or facilities management field at an entry level position. These courses would allow a student to continue their education at SUNY Erie in either Building Management and Trades or Construction Management areas.

WNY community members who have completed an apprenticeship with the IUPAT union or the Orleans/Niagara BOCES Building Management and Maintenance program may be eligible for Prior Learning Credit and grant funding to help with books, tuition, and living stipends starting in the Fall 2025 semester. Upon earning an Estimator microcredential,, students will have or obtain the: 

1. Ability to estimate and schedule the labor, materials, and equipment necessary to manage construction renovation-restoration project and facilities operations.

2. Develop an understanding of project, property and supervision management for scheduling that includes the knowledge of the employment requirements, service contracts and financial documents that impact workloads, daily operations, and capital improvements.

3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
