Know Before You Enroll

Before committing to enroll in an online learning course, the student should be aware that this is a different kind of learning. You should ask yourself a few questions before registering.

Online Class Complaint Resolution

SUNY Erie  is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) and follows the complaint resolution policies and procedures outlined within the SARA Policy Manual and summarized on the SARA Student Complaints site.

Consumer protection complaints resulting from distance education courses, activities, and operations may be submitted through Academic Grievance Policy or Non-Academic Grievance policy for investigation and resolution. If a student is dissatisfied with the campus-based resolution, a concern may be submitted to System Administration of the State University of New York as outlined on the  SUNY Student Concerns page.

And, if still not satisfied, a complaint may be submitted, within two years of the incident about which the complaint is made, to the New York State Education Department as outlined on the NYSED complaints page. Please note, this does not include complaints related to grades or student conduct violations, both of which are to be fully addressed via campus processes, not through the NC-SARA complaint resolution procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does SUNY Erie ensure the accuracy of its job placement data?
The Career Services office at SUNY Erie follows NACE standards and best practices for our Survey of Graduates data collection process.

Approximately six months after graduation, we send all graduates a link to our online "Baseline" survey, using the email addresses the college has on file. Graduates must input their Student ID when completing the survey online. If graduates do not respond to the survey links, we attempt to contact them by phone, using the phone number the college has on file. IRAAP pulls a report from the National Student Clearing house providing us with transfer data, so if we are unable to reach the graduate, we can use that information too. Occasionally, an academic department has placement or transfer data to provide us as well.
