Erie Community College faculty and staff celebrated the culmination of its
first annual 12 Days of Giving food drive inside its North Campus Spring
Student Center on December 13.
in the past under a variety of different designations—and most recently as the
President’s Holiday Food Drive—the three-campus college’s 12 Days of Giving
began at the start of December to collect non-perishable food items and gift
cards for the SUNY Erie community’s neediest members, comprised of working
students who need an extra hand this holiday season. This year, additional
support to the college-wide effort was provided by a variety of corporate
sponsors, including the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Chophouse, the Buffalo
Philharmonic Orchestra, GEICO, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, and Russell
collaboration helped provide more than 70 bags of food for the College’s
students and their families, as well as additional aid raised through the
December 13 wrap-up event’s holiday auction.
the success of the drive, the SUNY Erie community will continue its charitable
work internally with plans for a Student Affairs-driven food pantry to aid
students year-round. Externally, the College started its holiday efforts at
Buffalo’s Durham Central City Café on Thanksgiving, and will expand its service
when its students and staff volunteer toward operations of the Buffalo City
Mission on Christmas Day.
