Financial Aid

  • Paying for College

Erie Community College has a comprehensive program of student aid including federal and state subsidized programs, loans, part-time employment and scholarships. You can find general information regarding financial aid, as well as specific information regarding each of the potential funding sources that may be available to you.

Did you know there is a mobile app to help you apply for aid? Check out the video on the myStudentAid app at https://www.youtube.com/user/FederalStudentAid

    1. Explore Costs

Learn more about our tuition and fees and the SUNY Net Price Calculator to discover why ECC is an affordable option for your educational needs.

ECC offers students low tuition rates while providing quality education. You can find a listing of our tuition and fees on our website. Students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the costs associated in attending ECC.

The SUNY Net Price Calculator will provide you with an estimate of the financial aid you may qualified for based on your family’s financial situation. The returned net price reflects your estimated costs of attending ECC less your estimated financial aid you may receive.

    2. Apply for Financial Aid

Begin the application process for financial aid by completing the FAFSA Application before May 1.

      Apply for FAFSA

Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application determines your eligibility for federal, state and institutional sources of financial aid. To qualify, you need to be a matriculated student by applying and being accepted into an academic program.  Begin the process by obtaining a FSA ID. The FSA ID will allow you to access and sign your online FAFSA application.

If you have forgotten your FSA ID, you can find information for retrieving your username and password or unlocking your account on FAFSA's FAQ page. The FAFSA application must be completed every year by May 1. To avoid thief of your personal information, you should never share your FSA ID with others.

      Review Your Student Aid Report

After your FAFSA application has been processed, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) by mail or made available online.  You should review the report to ensure that the information is accurate and complete. If needed, you should provide corrected or missing information.  The SAR will state the amount of support you and your family is expected to contribute toward the costs of your education. ECC will contact you if we need additional documentation. All our documents can be obtained on online at Aid Forms.

      Tracking Your Financial Aid Status

Students are responsible for monitoring their financial aid status. After you are admitted into the college, you can access your financial aid information by logging into your MyECC account, then selecting Financial Aid under the WebAdvisor section on the right and then clicking on the Financial Aid Self-Service link. There you will find your financial aid checklist of items to be completed, as well as helpful links to resources.

If you cannot remember your MyECC account information, you can retrieve it at ECC MyUsername Check or by contacting the CITS Help Desk.

    3. Find Additional Aid

Other aid options are available to veterans, parents and other qualifying applicants.

Financial aid at Erie Community College falls into three broad categories:

      • Grants which do not have to be repaid
      • Loans which usually have low interest rates and must be repaid after graduation or upon leaving college
      • Part-time employment called work-study

In addition, ECC offers a wide variety of Scholarships through The Foundation.  Students are encouraged to explore the numerous opportunities available to them by contacting The Foundation or their financial aid office.

Lastly, there are other funding sources options for veterans and other special interest groups.  For assistance, please contact our Veterans Affairs or Other Funding Sources section of our website.
