    Corrections Officer

    The Corrections Officer Certificate Program, as part of the Criminal Justice Program, is designed to meet the needs of individuals interested in pursuing a career in corrections. It emphasizes correctional theory, law and procedures, as well as applied social and behavioral sciences. Graduates may qualify for employment at federal, state and county correctional facilities as correctional officers or supervisors, provided they meet standard physical and moral standards. These positions may also require graduates to pass a civil service exam for employment.

    Fine Arts

    ECC’s Fine Arts A.S. degree is designed to facilitate transfer into four-year B.A. programs for Studio Art, Graphic Design, Art Education, and/or Photography. The Fine Arts A.S. degree provides students with an excellent foundation that focuses on developing observational/interpretative skills and proficiency in drawing, 2D and 3D design, painting, digital foundations and photography. Students studying art engage in creative problem solving, critical thinking, sequential skill building and develop persistence and focus. These are all skills that help students excel whether they choose to continue their education or enter the workforce.

    Health Information Technology

    The purpose of the Health Information Technology Program is to prepare individuals for employment as health information technicians. Graduates of this program will be prepared for positions in the health information/medical record departments of health care institutions such as hospitals, nursing homes, health maintenance organizations, physician offices, insurance companies and a variety of other health care institutions. Graduates will be prepared in organizing, analyzing and technically evaluating health data/information according to established standards. Compilation of statistics, medical coding of information, abstracting health information data and legal aspects of health information will be covered.

    Mechatronics

    Mechatronics is a new and emerging career that trains technicians with multicraft skills and applies them within a manufacturing environment. Skills taught include electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and computer technologies. Mechatronics technicians who support advanced manufacturing will usually assist the design, development and engineering staff, as well as work closely with others to install, maintain, modify and repair mechatronic systems, equipment and component parts. The goal of the Mechatronics Certificate Program at Erie Community College is to prepare students for employment as production technicians in manufacturing locations throughout the Buffalo-Niagara region.
