SUNY Erie Kats to play season’s final game at Highmark Stadium

Nov. 5 event is free and open to the public with 4 p.m. kickoff

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Oct. 27, 2022 — The SUNY Erie Kats will play their final football game of the season in style – under the bright lights and hallowed grounds of The Buffalo Bills’ Highmark Stadium.

The Saturday, Nov. 5 game against the Sussex County (NJ) Community College Skylanders is free and open to the public. Kickoff is at 4 p.m., with gates opening at 3:30 p.m. Highmark Stadium’s concessions will offer food and beverage sales, and all students, staff and family members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

"The is an amazing opportunity for our students, to experience playing in a facility of this caliber," said SUNY Erie Athletic Director Steve Mullen. "For them to be able to end their season – and for many, their careers – in this fashion… it’s going to be a special moment."

The game will begin with a ceremonial coin toss featuring SUNY Erie President David Balkin and West Herr Auto President and CEO Scott Bieler, a longtime college supporter and member of the Class of 1974.

"I couldn’t be happier for our students," said President Balkin, who worked with the county and the Bills to help bring this opportunity to life. "They’ve practiced and played in its shadows on our South Campus all season long, but now they get to walk through that tunnel and play on that turf where so many legends have played before them. They’ll probably tell their grandkids about it someday."

All fans should park in Lot 2, accessible from Big Tree Road/Route 20A via One Bills Drive, and enter the stadium at Gate 2. All attendees will be subjected to standard NFL entry safety check procedures. No weapons, umbrellas, selfie sticks, tobacco, alcohol or animals (excluding service animals) may be brought into the stadium. Bags must be clear plastic and not larger than 12" x 6" x 12." Seat cushions larger than 15" x 15" or that contain armrests, zippers, pockets, flaps, or metal backs are also prohibited.
