SUNY Erie to Reorganize Campus Operations to Create Efficiencies and Cost Savings

SUNY Erie Community College today announced plans to reorganize operations at its three campuses, which includes reducing the footprint of the South Campus in Orchard Park.

SUNY Erie will be canceling six program offerings that have had historically low enrollment, including Casino Gaming Machine Repair Technology, Computer Aided Drafting & Design Technology, Dental Laboratory Technology, Graphic Communications Technology, Web Page Design, and Health Information Technology. The College will “teach out” students that are currently enrolled in cancelled programs. New students who have an interest in these areas can work with SUNY Erie’s Admissions team to enroll in related program offerings.

Additionally, 16 common programs that are currently being scheduled separately by the South and North Campuses will be combined and hubbed at the North Campus for improved program efficiency and space utilization. Associated courses will be delivered either online, via live streaming or though face-to-face classes at North Campus. A variety of South Campus unique programs, including Automotive, Architecture, Communication and Media Arts, and Information Technology, will continue to be offered at the South Campus exclusively. The Southtowns location of those programs may change over time within the region just as some programs at the other SUNY Erie locations may change over time depending on industry demand.

The College will continue to offer shuttle services between the various college locations.

Since 1946, SUNY Erie Community College has met the needs of a diverse student body while contributing to the economic vitality of Western New York. As a member of the state’s SUNY system, the three-campus college provides innovative, affordable, and accessible educational programs in an accommodating academic environment. Equipped with the knowledge of these programs, SUNY Erie’s faculty, staff and students strive to enrich their host communities through skill, service, and partnership.
